What does financial preparedness mean to you? For me it means being out of debt, and money to do what we want and need to do. Planning ahead.
Who is ready to kick debts butt and get free and take charge of their financial freedom?

I don't have credit card debt, just a mortgage and a school loan with very low interest. It's tough getting some savings going owning a home, there's always something that needs money spent on it. If I didn't love the security of being a home owner, and the space, I'd live in an apartment.
The small "savings" I do have is in a 401K that limps along and a bit in crypto currency that's going gang busters. I add a bit to it every now and then, keeping in mind that it's volatile as hell and could be wiped out in a blink. As for what it means I'm on the same page with you; debt free and money to spend without worrying about spending it.

I have two credit cards that I am working on paying off and student loans that will be around forever unless I will the lottery (which I don't play). Beyond that we are paying off a junker car we had to get to replace the truck we finally paid off, after it got totaled, thanks to an old man who didn't care to look before he hit the gas.

I would love to have the property paid off... but that is going to be a while. We don't keep credit card debt which is very liberating. Life is a work in progress... I think by being aware of how crippling debt can be, and working to improve it, everyone is so much further ahead than the average person. Most people spend more than they make and are leveraged into their next life not because of circumstances but for a lifestyle.

Since I consider paper/plastic money of zero value I stick to items and minerals that have actual value (as far as saving). You can still buy things with gold, silver, and other minerals it just isn't as common.
