I've been homeschooling since 1999. Textbooks, workbooks, online programs, libraries are my friend. Outdoors are awesome and I wish like hell video games were not so addictive because they are beyond distracting and half the time I would like to cut internet completely off at my house, if for only a few hours a day, as I sit here looking at my modem and thinking about the surge protector it is plugged into-- mommy thoughts for Monday!.

I am embarking on unschooling... Though I will utilize an education co-op a day or two a week. Playing it by ear.. life changes.

I have graduated 2 of my kids. On child was reluctant (the mildest way to put it) to do anything and is now working (still) on a GED. I have one to go and he will be between 6th and 7th grade because he isn't exactly enthusiastic about his math. I could never do the unschooling because schooling is too deep in my being. It is probably a lot more relaxing though. I had a desk in front of my for 6 days a week for as long as I can remember during my school years, even in Sunday School (blah). Homework in everything!!!

You'll need that playing it by ear notion because your daily can change in a second, then again in another 2 seconds after that. Even though I do 'school' we have so many detours. Monday my son was supposed to be looking up information on geography and got sidetracked and deeply entrenched by the country information he was looking up, the worksheet finally got finished yesterday.
